Volunteering is Cool.

Monday, I volunteered for the first time. I can’t believe that I never have, but I’m glad I finally did. Myself, along with group of about 10 served dinner to 100+ homeless men at The Bowery Mission. This monthly effort is spearheaded by my good friend Akilah Scharff, who has been doing it for some time now. It felt good to provide a smile to these men along with their meal and simply ask how they were doing – showing people that you acknowledge them and genuinely care for their well-being can be all it takes to make someone’s day.

No matter what it is that you do, choose something that you can do to help your community. Just a little bit of your time can make so much of a difference in someone’s life. I guarantee you that everybody wins.
